Register A Dog

Dog walking on a leash

If you own a dog, you are required to license the dog. Licenses cover the calendar year, and the city begins licensing each October 15 for the coming year.

All dogs need to be licensed upon reaching the age of 6 months in the town where it resides. Or after the dog has been with the family for 10 days, if adopted.

  • All dogs must be registered annually by January 1st
  • On February 1st a $25.00 late fee will be charged in addition to the regular license fee

If you moved to Gardiner from another municipality in Maine and your dog was licensed in that municipality, please bring the license in to City Hall so that we can update our records at no cost to you.
